Charlotte, NC, January 3, 2022 – Titus Alliance is pleased to announce Justin Boyd has been appointed to serve as a member on The Appraisal Foundation’s Business Valuation Resource Panel (BVRP) commencing Jan. 1, 2022, for up to three years.

The Appraisal Foundation is the United States’ foremost authority on the valuation profession. The organization sets the Congressionally authorized standards and qualifications for appraisers as well as provides voluntary guidance on recognized valuation methods and techniques for all valuation professionals. This work advances the profession by ensuring that appraisals are independent, consistent, and objective.

The BVRP is a rotating panel of 12 leading business valuation experts, professionals, and academics appointed to serve at the pleasure of the Foundation as a means of preserving and improving the public trust in business valuations. The BVRP provides input, recommendations, and updates from the business valuation discipline to its Boards.

“I am excited to join the BVRP during a challenging time when the COVID-19 pandemic is having a significant impact on deal structures and business values,” said Justin Boyd. “I look forward to working with an impressive team of valuation experts and being part of the Panel’s continued success.”

Activities of the BVRP include maintaining and developing Business Valuation Advisories, interacting with the Appraisal Issues Task Force, and other special projects. The Foundation’s Advisories include VFR Valuation Advisory #3: The Measurement and Application of Market Participant Acquisition Premiums and VFR Valuation Advisory #4: Valuation of Contingent Consideration, e.g., an earnout. The BVRP seeks to maintain and strengthen the interaction between The Appraisal Foundation and members of the business valuation discipline.

ABOUT THE APPRAISAL FOUNDATION

In 1989 Congress enacted Title XI of the Financial Institutions Reform Recovery and Enforcement Act (FIRREA), which established the current appraisal regulatory mechanism. As a result of the legislation, certain appraisers must meet the qualification criteria established by the Appraiser Qualifications Board (AQB) and all appraisals for federally related transactions must conform to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) promulgated by the Appraisal Standards Board (ASB). The Appraisal Foundation ensures that the valuation profession adapts to changing circumstances and continues to move forward through the work of its two independent Boards.

Headquartered in Washington, D.C., The Foundation is directed by a Board of Trustees. Its sponsors include professional non-profit organizations such as the American Society of Appraisers (ASA), International Society of Appraisers (ISA), the American Bankers Association (ABA), and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
